Physical Education Studies contributes to the development of students’ physical, social and emotional growth. The Physical Education Studies General course provides students with opportunities to understand and improve performance through the integration of theoretical concepts and practical activities.
Through engagement as performers, leaders, coaches, analysts and planners of physical activity, students may develop skills that can be utilised in leisure, recreation, education, sport development, youth work, health and medical fields.
Prerequisites:
Minimum C Grade in Year 10 Physical Education ans a minimum C Grade in Year 10 English; Sound Interpersonal Skills; Participation, PE Uniform and Attendance endorsement from Physical Education teacher; Sound level of physical fitness.
Syllabus:
The Year 11 syllabus is divided into two units, each of one semester duration, which are typically delivered as a pair. The notional time for each unit is 55 class contact hours.
Unit 1 – Introduction to Anatomy, Physiology & Human Movement
The focus of this unit is the development of students’ knowledge, understanding and application of anatomical, physiological and practical factors associated with performing in physical activities.
Unit 2 – Physical Activity and the Impact on the Body’s Systems
The focus of this unit is the impact of physical activity on the body’s anatomical and physiological systems. Students are introduced to these concepts which support them to improve their performance as team members and/or individuals.

Practical (Performance): 50%
Investigation: 25%
Response: 25%
