The Year 7 Visual Arts course engages students in traditional, modern and contemporary media and promotes an exploration of various materials and techniques within a wide range of art forms. These include line drawings (still life, portraits, automatism, cartooning), colour rendering, abstract art using oil pastels, acrylic painting, watercolour painting, clay sculpture and digital media. The course encourages students to explore and represent their own ideas while gaining an appreciation of visual arts in general. Students are encouraged to appreciate the work of other artists while engaging in their own art practice.
