Students get to increase their skills and knowledge in the Wood Technology course. The introduction of new hand tools, portable power tools and machines allow the students to build self-confidence and develop their organisational skills and their ability to work independently while completing a series of tasks. The tasks undertaken include working with design briefs, identification of timber and how to protect and finish a fine woodworking model. The students work with all the modern tools and equipment and are shown all the required safety procedures to allow them to become proficient and confident when designing and constructing useful projects. Wood Technology builds into our Technologies priority which is a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths (STEAM).
