English and Careers Teacher

Are you passionate about guiding students toward their future careers while fostering essential literacy and communication skills? Baldivis Secondary College is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking English and Careers Teacher to join our team and deliver our bespoke Tertiary and Career Readiness (TCR) program across Years 9 and 10.

In this innovative fixed-term position, you will combine your expertise in English education with a focus on career development, preparing students for success in further education, training, and employment. The TCR program equips students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to explore their interests, identify potential pathways, and make informed decisions about their futures.

This role is ideal for a teacher who thrives on developing meaningful connections with students and delivering engaging, real-world learning experiences.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach English and TCR lessons to Year 9 and 10 students, aligning with the Western Australian Curriculum and the college’s bespoke program design.
  • Foster students’ career awareness and planning, integrating essential skills such as resume writing, interview preparation, and tertiary readiness into the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the Pathways team to provide tailored guidance and connect students with relevant opportunities, including VET, ATAR, and alternative pathways.
  • Inspire students to develop strong literacy skills while exploring practical applications in future careers.
  • Develop innovative learning resources and strategies to support diverse student needs and aspirations.
  • Build partnerships with local businesses, training providers, and tertiary institutions to enhance the program.
