Study Skills Handbook

In this handbook you will find all the secrets to academic success at school!

On the main page you will see a list of the topics covered by this handbook. You can choose to either:

  1. Work through the topics systematically over time. Print and use the worksheets for each unit as well as completing the online activities. Use the tracking system to keep track of the units you have completed each year; or
  2. Browse on an ‘as needs’ basis while trying the activities and quizzes along the way and maybe printing the summary sheets as well.

Tracking System

To save your results (strongly advised) you will need to set up your own tracking system details so you can then save the results of your quizzes and modules.

Once you take your first quiz, you are prompted to set up your own personal tracking system username and password or you can go straight to the tracking system to set it up. (Some schools will do a bulk upload of all of their students tracking details). You then use these tracking details to save the results of your quizzes and modules. So you will continue to always log in using the school username and password, but to save the results of your quizzes or modules you use your personal tracking system details. Don’t tell other students your personal tracking info.

You can then use the Tracking system login to monitor your login, change password, check progress and apply for a completion certificate.

* Endorsed Program

An endorsed program is a significant learning program that has been developed for senior secondary students. Each endorsed program consists of a series of lessons, classes and/or activities designed to lead to the achievement of a common goal or set of learning outcomes. Endorsed programs can be delivered as part of the school curriculum or as extra-curricular activities.

All endorsed programs successfully completed and reported to the Authority by the school

  • are listed on the student’s Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement
  • may contribute towards the breadth-and-depth requirement of the WACE
  • may contribute towards the C grade requirement of the WACE.

SCSA has endorsed this site for 1 point. Students completing 20 units (including both the quiz for the unit and the module – see requirements below) on the site can count this towards their WACE if the school is able to report the achievement to the curriculum council.

Once students in Years 10-12 complete 20 units (and they can count units completed in Years 8 and 9), they can apply through the tracking system page for a certificate. This can be used as evidence of their achievement. Students can re-take the quizzes and modules prior to requesting the certificate in order to improve the level of their award (pass, credit, distinction, high distinction – see requirements below).

It is really important you print and read the following: Requirements for a Certificate
